Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Co-ordination and Governance

Date:

Location: The Printworks, Dublin Castle

From the Chairs

Hosting the Presidency of the EU Council provides an opportunity for Ireland to guide the legislative and policy agenda for the Union. To this end, the Committee on Budgetary Oversight and the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure, Public Service Reform, Digitalisation and Taoiseach will host the Interparliamentary Committee Meeting on Stability, Economic Co-ordination and Governance in Dublin in September.

This will be an opportunity for national parliamentary colleagues across Europe to come together to discuss the pressing economic and budgetary matters that are affecting the future of the EU.

Event Details

The Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Co-ordination and Governance bring together members of EU national parliaments and the European Parliament to discuss economic governance and budgetary policy in the Union and particularly the European Monetary Union.

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure, Public Services Reform and Digitalisation, and Taoiseach and the Oireachtas Committee on Budgetary Oversight will co-chair the conference with the European Parliament.

This is an opportunity for experts and politicians from Ireland and across the Union to debate and exchange best practices in the implementation of provisions of the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union, also known as the Fiscal Compact.

The aim of the conference is to strengthen co-operation between national parliaments and the European Parliament and ensure democratic accountability in economic governance and budgetary policy across the EU.
