Interparliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy

This conference brings together members of parliament from across the EU member states and the European Parliament to discuss policy matters relating to the Union’s common foreign and security policy.

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Joint Committee on Defence and National Security will co-chair the conference with the European Parliament.

This is an opportunity for experts and politicians from Ireland and across the Union to debate and exchange information related to the foreign and security policy area and ensure elected representatives are fully informed in performing their roles.

This conference was established in 2012 in accordance with Protocol 1 of the Lisbon Treaty on the role of national parliaments in the European Union.
