Visit of the Conference of Presidents
Event Details
The Conference of Presidents is a governing body of the European Parliament. Composed of the President of the European Parliament and the leaders of all the political groups, it is a key decision-making body and sets the political agenda and overall direction of the Parliament’s positions.
The visit of the Conference of Presidents to Ireland was a key political engagement with the European Parliament before the start of the Presidency.
Led by President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, the Conference of Presidents met the Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann and the Cathaoirleach of Seanad Éireann, engaging with representatives of the political groups in the Houses of the Oireachtas.
As well as engaging with the Houses of the Oireachtas, the Conference of Presidents also met the Irish Government to discuss the priorities of the Irish presidency.
A good working relationship with the European Parliament is key to the success of Ireland's Presidency.
